The Caramelized Carrots beaten by the Beatles in the 60s

Michael, David & William - The Caramelized Carrots! Or so they wished to be known. The three young boys had been the best of friends ever since they all failed 6th grade twice. Surprisingly, they never noticed each other until they figured out that they have been repeating this class together twice now. Michael was the first to spot the common link and he walked up to David and William separately and said, "Buddy, you and me, third year in a row. Give me an high five!" While David was startled and dropped his pickled carrot, the interaction with William went just right. Which meant William gave him a high five without batting an eye lid. And just like that the all-knowing Michael knew that this was a sign. There was a reason why they all repeated the same class twice. He convinced both David and William that they were to form a band. Not just any band, but the best band in the World. David forced his mum to buy him a drum kit, which she was glad to get eventually, as she was starting to worry that her son may be a little on the slow side. William on the other hand wasn't the first musician in his family. His uncle, who was his mother's second cousin proudly played the Triangle for his school band. William borrowed his uncle's personal Triangle, which he gave away with much pride, seeing his nephew follow in his uncle's footsteps. As William walked out of his uncle's apartment he wondered why his mom never let him hang out with the old unc over here.

With William and David having settled on their roles in the band, it was left to Michael to decide what he was going to do. Obviously, since he was the one who had the epiphany, Michael knew he had to be the singer, songwriter and Ukulele player for the band. The last bit happened by chance, as Michael's sister had left her Ukulele home when she moved to college, and that which she wouldn't know will not hurt her. Besides, who else could be the lead vocalist he thought, since he had the longest hair among them. And then began, the JAMMING sessions! Liters of diet soda, tonnes of buckets of ice-cream, hundreds of burgers, millions of fries, and 5 years later, The Caramelized Carrots were a solid thing, and they were going strong.

By now Michael even had a girlfriend, Judy, David's cousin with pink braces. Why that description? Because that's what the guys thought of her, until puberty hit and Michael realized he likes pink braces, and Judy realized she likes a barely grown single line of moustache on a young man. And just like that they were the hottest thing. Well, they were a thing. Something. Suddenly Michael's songs turned from dark rage to melodic, romantic ballads. From their regular sets with songs like Thorn in my foot, Aaahhh! and I jump coz my puppy gone, The Caramelized Carrots were playing songs like Boom! Ice Cream sandwich, for which one verse goes like "You biscuit, I biscuit. Cream! Boom! Ice Cream Sandwich." But no matter how hard they worked they still couldn't break into the music scene. The people never missed their show though, they were loved at the clubs. Michael thought they were unique, since people went hysterical as they played their music and in a sense they were unique, just that the perspective was different between the audience and The Caramelized Carrots. The problem was that they never got an opportunity to record a song; no big producer took them away and made them millions, like in the movies.

At this point, William's blank face, David's soda slurping and Judy's brushing of teeth after each meal was getting to Michael. He knew he had to write the greatest song of his life, to get out of the small town of New York and go to Shangrila, a place he had heard of from the shampoo guy at the fancy salon he went to, for taking care of his beautiful long hair. He just knew it that Shangrila was in Europe and that was his destiny. For this, he needed to come up with a masterpiece and for that he needed to think, and there was only one way he could do that - MSILWPFAI! Which was created by Michael when he was in the sixth grade and they had just formed the band. It stands for 'Michael's Self-Imposed Lock-down With Pizza For Awesome Ideas'. And nobody messed with Michael when he was on MSILWPFAI. Except for his mom, who occasionally came down to pick up the laundry. She loved Michael and always encouraged him. She would say, "Son, do your best. Have fun. Just don't be an Idiot please." And every time she said that, it would break his heart a little. Because he knew he wasn't listening to her words. He knew, that he was not having fun.

After 5 whole days and 2 partial baths, finally Michael emerged from the MSILWPFAI. A changed man! Until he took bath number 3 and wore nicer cloths, bringing the old Michael back. But there was something different. There was a little hop in his stride. Not the summer rash kind, but the cheerful kind. Michael had written the greatest song of all time and obviously he had dedicated it to his girl, Judy. He was so excited that he rushed over to David and William's homes to take them to his place and get to work. What followed was a marathon 48-hour practice session and then a good night's sleep. The evening of the next day, they were to play the new song in front of their families, who would all gather at Michael's backyard.

The next evening, just before the performance, Michael opened up his heart to his girl Judy. He said, "Judy. This song is for you babe. I think I like you like you girl." This brought a little tear in Judy's eyes, because she didn't understand what that meant even though she wanted to. With everything else out of the way, The Caramelized Carrots began to play, with loud cheers from their families. Michael's sister was also there, and so was William's Triangle uncle. And after a brief intro music Michael began to sing:

"Hey Judy, don't make it bad

Take a sad song and make it better

Remember to let her into your heart

Then you can start to make it better..."

While William's uncle dropped his pizza and Michael's sister shook her head with disbelief, the rest of the audience simply froze in silence. Even David's seven year old baby sister stopped at, "What the fa.." Michael's mom stopped the performance and asked the boys where they came up with the song. To which Michael responded proudly, "It just came to me ma. I am an artist. My brain works like the guy who decided to put ice cream in soda or the person who came up with the name Judy." He turned to Judy and winked at her when he said that. William's uncle then spoke up, "Son, have you ever heard the Beatles?" Michael said, "Yes sir. They go like kirrk kirrrk kirrk." At this everyone looked at each other and Michael's mom said, "You know what boys, this song is beyond this time. It is amazing, but we don't think people will understand it. But well done. Why don't you come up with some more, and keep this song as a special moment tonight. And never play it again." The boys nodded at each other and agreed to do so, since everyone enjoyed it that much. Michael's mom then suggested that they all head inside and have a wonderful party, to which everyone broke the silence and began chattering and moving in. William's uncle who was walking with Michael's sister said, "If that brother of yours really came up with the song all on his own, then whaddayaknow, them kids got beaten by the Beatles in the sixtys."
